Sowa Rigpa & Ayurvedic Healing
Personalized Holistic Care for Mental, Emotional, and Physical Well-Being
Drawing upon the deep wisdom of Sowa Rigpa (Traditional Tibetan Medicine) and Ayurveda, I offer individualized treatment plans that support mental health, emotional balance, and physical vitality. Rooted in ancient traditions and tailored to modern life, these healing systems honor the interconnectedness of body, mind, and spirit.
Sowa Rigpa Mental Health Counseling
Wisdom from Tibetan Healing Traditions
Sowa Rigpa, the ancient science of healing from Tibet, holds a holistic approach to mental and emotional well-being. Rooted in the understanding of wind (rlung) imbalance—often responsible for anxiety, depression, or emotional disturbance—Sowa Rigpa supports healing through diet, behavior, herbal support, and subtle body alignment.
In these sessions, we explore the deeper roots of suffering using the principles of Tibetan Medicine, integrating them with presence-based counseling, subtle energy work, and spiritual guidance.
This work supports:
Anxiety, fear, or racing thoughts
Depression, grief, or heaviness
Overwhelm, nervous system dysregulation
Emotional turbulence from spiritual opening
It is gentle, intuitive, and rooted in reverence for the soul’s unfolding.
Tibetan La Hooking Ritual
A sacred practice for calling the soul home
This ritual comes from the Yuthok Nyingthig tradition (a system of Buddhist practice which combines Traditional Tibetan medicine and Vajrayana practices). It is used to retrieve the vital life essence, known as La, that may have become scattered or lost through shock, grief, trauma, or illness. In Tibetan spiritual medicine, La is understood as the animating force of vitality, clarity, and one’s will to live. When the La is fragmented, we may experience fatigue, disconnection, confusion, depression, or prolonged illness.
With deep reverence, the La Hooking ritual creates a compassionate, soul-level invitation for the spirit to return more fully to the body. It’s performed only with permission on the energetic level and held within a prayerful, protective space.
What takes place in a La Hooking session:
I begin by attuning to the person's energy body using visualization, prayer, and diagnostic methods from Tibetan medicine.
I invoke spiritual guidance and protection from enlightened beings and ancestral lineages.
With sacred tools—such as a ritual hook (kha phurba), breath, mantra, and visualization—I reach into the subtle realms to call back the La from wherever it may be lodged: the past, traumatic places, relationships, or even other dimensions of the psyche.
The La is then guided gently back into the body and anchored through breathwork, mantra, and occasionally with sacred substances or blessings that seal and protect the reintegration.
This process is rooted in love, non-interference, and respect. Nothing is forced. The soul is simply invited to return—when and how it is ready.
Why it matters:
La Hooking supports healing on the deepest levels of being. For those recovering from trauma, illness, or emotional disorientation, it can help reweave wholeness, restore clarity, and return the spirit to its rightful home in the body. Many who receive this ritual describe a subtle but profound shift—feeling more present, grounded, and alive.
This offering is a sacred complement with Ghost Points acupuncture treatments. It honors the invisible dimensions of healing and the deep intelligence of the soul.
I offer this practice during acupuncture treatments with the points listed above, with great respect for its Tibetan origins.
Sowa Rigpa Mental Health Therapies
Traditional Tibetan Medicine approaches mental health through the balance of the body’s elemental forces and the harmonization of the “wind” (Lung) energy, which governs the nervous system and emotional well-being. Treatments include dietary adjustments, plant-based remedies, lifestyle modifications, and therapeutic bodywork. Each session is carefully tailored to support psychological resilience, trauma integration, and nervous system regulation.
Mongolian Hormé Therapy
A deeply nourishing external therapy that uses warm, aromatic herbal compresses applied to specific points to calm the wind humor (Lung). This therapy promotes deep relaxation, relieves anxiety, and gently replenishes depleted energy.
Tibetan “La” Massage
This gentle energy-restoring practice is designed to call back and stabilize the vital protective essence known as “La,” especially after shock, grief, or emotional fragmentation. It involves subtle touch, breath, and visualization techniques, performed in alignment with lunar cycles.
Tibetan Nejang Yoga
An internal practice of healing movement and breath rooted in monastic medicine. These gentle, accessible exercises support the movement of internal winds, enhance organ health, and promote energetic alignment.
These therapies offer profound support for anxiety, insomnia, grief, trauma recovery, and emotional instability, and may be integrated into your personalized plan as needed.
Ayurvedic Nutritional & Lifestyle Consultations
Reclaiming Balance Through the Art of Living
Ayurveda, the "Science of Life," offers a practical and poetic map for aligning with your unique constitution and the rhythms of nature. Based on the elemental forces of earth, water, fire, air, and space, Ayurveda classifies each person into a dosha type—Vata, Pitta, Kapha, or combinations thereof—and provides individualized guidance for restoring balance and preventing dis-ease.
I offer personalized Ayurvedic coaching and consulting services—either as standalone sessions or in combination with acupuncture and other therapies. Together, we explore your constitution, current imbalances, and lifestyle patterns to create a roadmap for healing and thriving.
In our sessions, we may explore:
Strengthening Agni, the digestive fire, and the subtypes (Dhatu Agnis) for optimal assimilation
Supporting Shukra (reproductive tissue) to enhance Ojas (vitality, resilience, and immunity)
Foundations for longevity and health that lie within our daily choices
Post-Covid immune recovery and Ayurvedic solutions
Cautions around extreme diets, cleanses, and lifestyle trends
Mindful meal planning, food combining, and seasonal rhythms
Ayurvedic Nutrition
Nutrition is central to healing. We design individualized meal plans based on your dosha, the nature of your imbalance, digestive strength, organ involvement, and the current season.
Food is seen not just as fuel, but as medicine—its qualities (gunas), tastes (rasas), and post-digestive effects (vipaka) are taken into account. We emphasize:
Incorporating the six tastes in every meal
Eating fresh, seasonal, locally grown foods
Favoring warm, nourishing, easy-to-digest meals
Avoiding processed and energetically disturbing foods
Understanding the subtle energetics of food beyond calories or macros
Lifestyle Alignment
Daily rhythms shape our health. We explore habits related to sleep, movement, work, relationships, spiritual practices, and emotional hygiene. Lifestyle guidance is always personalized, incorporating seasonal changes, current life stage, emotional patterns, and spiritual needs.
Whether you are navigating:
A physical health concern (acute or chronic)
An emotional transition (grief, heartbreak, anxiety, trauma)
A spiritual or existential shift (feeling stuck, disconnected, or ready for transformation)
…I hold space for your journey with grounded support, compassion, and practical tools.
